Music tutoring

Teaching is Martin's professional career
He holds a Dip. Ed (Music) from the University of Bristol, is an Associate of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers of New Zealand, and is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury School of Music.

For over 40 years he has enjoyed teaching students of all ages 

• organ performance
• traditional tonal harmonic theory
• aural perception (his 1977 Aural Perception text is till used in New Zealand schools)
• practical keyboard skills (including transposition, accompaniment and orchestral score reading)
• conducting and rehearsal techniques (choral and orchestral)
• French and German for musicians
• music history (with special interests in opera, French music and keyboard music)
