At his "Happy Anniversaries" concert in June 2022 Martin was presented with a surprise commendation from the Mayor of Christchurch for his 25 years as Organ Curator of the Christchurch Town Hall organ

 What a wonderfully entertaining concert this was with a feast of balanced sounds

 Martin Setchell has the ability to make every piece sound as though it was written specifically for the sounds of the organ he is playing. No easy task when his programme covered a very wide range of styles. His mastery of registration treated the listeners to beautifully clear colours in the baroque pieces with inner parts wonderfully audible on one hand and excitingly full, rich sounds in the romantic pieces. The quieter passages likewise always interesting, varied and stylistically appropriate.
